January Skincare Empties

By Inordinatelyplush @inordinateplush

The title states that this is a January empties post, however I must confess that these have been lying around my bedroom for months now –I know, I’m awful aren’t I? I decided to entitle it January’s as to those who do not read the text of my posts will be baffled by my sheer amount of cleanser; how many cleansers does one girl need in one month? That is what they’ll ask themselves. Well, I like to mix it up –wink. I do like to change my cleanser, but only because I have not found a cleanser that improves my skin. My skin is dry –we’ve heard this before Jen – and the majority of creamy cleansers work well and don’t cause any rashes/break outs/more dry patches, but they do not make my skin feel any better than it did before I used said cleansers. Anyway, everything here I was pleased with for the reason that they caused no bother and would highly recommend the drugstore cleansers especially.

Clinique Cleansing milk 200ml – This states it is ideal for drier skin and yes it worked fab on my skin, as it did not make it any drier, but as I said, no improvements. One down side of this cleansing milk is that you cannot use it around the eye area, which brings me to my next empty.

Clinique Naturally Gentle eye make up remover 75ml – This is more a watery cream, weird consistency but it done the trick. It was just a fanny on if I slept out as I don’t often buy any back up cleansers, so the two together took up a lot of space. For that reason, I opted for a different cleanser from the same brand.

Clinique Cleansing Balm 125ml – I’ve included an image of the last scrapings of this to show you what it looks like; it’s like rubbing Vaseline all over your face. It is an oily cleanser which is absolutely fab for removing make up, and I could  use it in the eye area too –bonus. After applying the balm then removing make up with cotton wool it was definitely necessary to rinse well with a basic soap or just water (I used the mild liquid soap also by Clinique which I still use today).

Johnson’s Refreshing Cleansing Lotion 200ml – I bought this for about £1.50 when I was super skint during Autumn. It is your basic cleansing milk with the nice Johnson’s scent that we all know from the wipes. Definitely done the job whilst I couldn’t afford anything a little more luxurious – or should I say Plush?

Simple Purifying Cleansing Lotion 200ml – I enjoyed Simple products for a very long time during my time at college when I was between 16 and 18, the one product I kept using was this cleanser. I trust it 100% and there is still a smidgen in there so I will keep it for whenever my skin is feeling a little sensitive and needs left alone.

Garnier Comforting Cleansing Milk 200ml – Well, I got given a Garnier moisturiser by someone about a year ago and even though I could tell it was full of nasty perfume and alcohol substitutes, it worked so beautifully on my skin. So I bought the cleansing milk and moisturiser –below- about 2 month ago on a whim, thinking it was just a I’ll use this until I can afford Eve Lom sort of cleanser. Oh no I loved these products! Of all the empties, the Garnier products definitely kept my skin clear and smooth.

Olay Double Action Night Cream for sensitive skin 50ml – Not much to say on this one; it done nothing for my skin. Saying that I do own an Olay serum which I adore but the night cream just felt thick on application, and didn’t seem to do much.

Garnier Essentials Day Cream 50ml – Loved this; it smells gorgeous, it goes on like a dream and a tiny bit goes a long way. Would definitely recommend this if your skin is not too sensitive. I still trust Clinique is better for my skin in the long run and for this reason I won’t be re-purchasing this until maybe summer time.

Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment 200ml – I’ve already raved about this one here. These two tubs lasted me from about October until just the other week, when using it on a weekly basis. Love it so much and recently I have definitely noticed a limpness in my hair without it being incorporated into my hair care routine -I miss you Stafford!

Boots Botanics Body Butter and Body Polish both 50ml – I got these as a gift sometime last year and I forgot about them whilst they were hidden away on my top shelf with the other not sure of bath and body stuff. Upon finally re-discovering them, I realised that I love them; the body butter is quite hard to squeeze out of the tiny nozzle but it smells like a dream and applies like one too. The scrub is just your average scrub really, could be a little more gritty but it was nice for days when I didn’t want to feel so raw.

Vaseline Hand and Nail cream 75ml – This has lasted me so long. Most times I don’t believe that hand creams which claim healthy nails, but this definitely showed results quickly. It made my hands soft and made my nails grow strong.

I have repurchased a new cleanser, and surprise surprise it is not a Clinique one. I finally caved and bought Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish! So far I am very impressed with how easy it takes off my make up. Even when I tone afterwards there are no traces of foundation on the cotton pad; I would do a review but there are already a few out there. If you want to see another one though, just let me know. I also have quite a few make up empties so watch out for those!

Has anyone tried any of these products? If so, what were your thoughts?
