Janet Jackson’s Tour Continues!
Lo and behold, it looks LaToya Jackson and her magic magnifying glass won’t be needed to solve The Mystery of Janet’s Missing Tour. Against all odds (I’m pretty sure Vegas odds were 1 billion-to-1 that it was actually going to relaunch), Janet Jackson kicked off the first show of her new and improved tour last night. And it wasn’t even a contractually-obligated performance, either. Janet put some Miss Jacksonifyanasty into it!
Janet launched the Unbreakable World Tour in 2015, and it was incredibly ironic that it was named the Unbreakable tour, because it was a broken mess from the get-go (and I’m not talking about the on-stage wardrobe). After postponing shows and the European leg of her tour, she called it a day so she could focus on getting pregnant and promised she was going to return at a later date. Well, she also had a billionaire’s baby, and everyone was like “Listen, Janet, stay home in your nest of money, honey. We’ll keep making due with our Design of a Decade CD.”
Well, all those fans with dust-covered concert tickets who were wondering if they were going to get a show or a refund are going to get a show after all. The Unbreakable World Tour is now the State of the World Tour, the first show of which happened in Lafayette, Louisiana last night. The next show will be tomorrow night in Houston, Texas, which Janet says will 100% be happening.
Janet totally could have phoned it in; she’s rich, famous, and in her 50s, and those three things pretty much make up the trifecta of doing whatever the hell you want. But no, according to People magazine, Janet was serving up high energy and hot 90s looks. She opened the show with a powerful message, and then launched into this thing Mariah Carey calls “moving far too fast, darling” (aka dancing).

There are so many GIF-worthy moments on social media of Janet working some expert-level hairography, but my favorite moment from her show last night had to be when she issued a warning to those who hadn’t properly secured down their hair.

Janet’s not kidding; the hairpiece she was wearing last night was so long, I don’t doubt it would be the one to do the snatching. One head flick too close to a particularly strong gust of stage fan wind, and that pony tail could snap into the audience like a whip and yank a wig clean off someone’s head!
