As quoted by Vanguardnrg, "Buhari on Wednesday approved the reduction in the cost of forms for the JAMB, NECO and the Basic Education Certificate Examination fees. With effect from January 2021/2022, the cost of UTME Form will drop from N5,000 to N3,500 while that of NECO will drop from N11,350 to N9,850." Similarly, fees for the Basic Education Certificate handled by NECO has been reduced from N5,500 to N4,000. This was made known at the weekly Federal Executive Council held Wednesday, where the minister of education, Adamu Adamu, announced that "the President has directed the ministry to look into the reduction following the significant improvement in revenues being remitted to the treasury by the education agencies." Any update will affect the change immediately.
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said it will no longer register candidates who do not have the National Identity Number (NIN) for the upcoming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
In order for you to participate in the JAMB UTME 2021 exercise, you must have the National Identification Number (NIN). Thankfully, it is quite easy to print out.

Before we proceed with the JAMB 2021 registration, there are a few documents and requirements updates you should observe. They include:
- Personal email address and mobile phone number
- JAMB profile access.
- JAMB ePIN registration payment
- Visit any accredited CBT centres with your personal details, profile and evidence of payment.
- The CBT centres or JAMB State Office, supplies, at no extra cost, the prescribed reading text and the CD containing:
- a) e-brochure showing guidelines on admission detailing the list of tertiary institutions and available programmes of study.
- b) Syllabus (e-syllabus) for the examination.
- c) Step by step guide on completion of the application form.
- d) A video message from the Registrar of JAMB and a demo on how to use eight (8) keys for the UTME examination without a mouse. (For candidates with little familiarity with Computers).
- vii. Each Candidate is to complete the online application form by supplying the required details such as name, e-mail address, L.G.A., academic qualification, etc.
- viii. At the CBT centres, the Candidate's ten fingers biometric and image will be captured and uploaded.
- ix. O/L and/or A/L grades are to be provided by candidates. Candidates who are awaiting results should supply the result online as soon as the results are available on JAMB's portal.
- x. Each Candidate is to collect his e-slip at the end of registration as evidence of registration.
There will be no offline registration, as all the accredited CBT centres have been empowered for real life online registration.
N/B: No candidate should register at any centres other than the accredited CBT centres and JAMB State office. Any candidate who is registered outside approved centres will be identified and disqualified.
JAMB Registration Procedures - Step by Step Guide
1. PROFILE REGISTRATION:One candidate should have only one cell phone number. The Candidate's name is automatically linked to the cell phone number used with the text message, and it will be used in all messages relating to his/her 2021 Application/Examination.
Candidate sends his/her name [Surname, First-Name, Middle-Name (if any)] by text (SMS) to this should be maximum of 38 characters + 2 spaces between names = 40 characters in all to 55019 e.g Tinubu Adamu Odumegwu ( Surname and first name are mandatory)
A Profile Code of 10 characters is received by the candidate on the same telephone number
2. SELF HELP IN CASE OF MISTAKE/LOSS OF PROFILE CODE:- To correct a mistake in candidate's name, send the [CORRECT Surname First-Name Middle-Name] to 55019 as a text message from the same mobile number
- To retrieve a lost Profile Code, send [RESEND] to 55019 as text message from the same mobile number
- NIPOST and eleven Participating Banks (ACCESS, ECOBANK, FIRSTBANK, FCMB, FIDELITY, JAIZ, SKYE, STERLING, UNION, UNITY and ZENITH)
- Four Mobile Money Operators: Paga, e-Tranzact (PocketMoni), TEASYPay and Packway Projects (Readycash)
- Two participating Micro Finance Banks: FUD MFB (Dutse) and Regent MFB (Abuja)
- Two online Payment Platforms: SystemSpecs (Remita) and InterSwitch (Quickteller)POS (Citi-Serve)

AFTER SUCCESSFUL PAYMENT AND OBTAINING ePIN, CANDIDATE SHOULD PROCEED TO ANY OF THE JAMB ACCREDITED CBT CENTRES TO COMPLETE HIS/HER REGISTRATION.
For admission, the candidate must show the ePIN at any JAMB-accredited CBT Center.
When the CBT center enters the e-PIN, the candidate's name appears immediately, as typed by the candidate on his or her phone when registering the profile.
N/B: Candidate should register at any centre other than the accredited CBT centre and JAMB State office.
8. PROCEDURE FOR THE EIGHT FOREIGN CENTRES ONLY IS AS FOLLOWS:Any candidate who is registered outside approved centers will be identified and disqualified.
The registration fee for candidates from the eight foreign countries is $20 or it's equivalent in each of the eight countries.
Candidates from the eight foreign countries are to download the Application from the Board's website (www.jamb.gov.ng)complete and submit it with the fee at the eight designated centers as indicated on the website.
*JAMB Procurement of Registration ePINS:
1). Registration Fee is Five Thousand (N5, 000) Naira Only. Additional Five Hundred (N500) Naira Only is paid to obtain the reading text "SWEET SIXTEEN by BOLAJI ABDULLAHI" for UTME Candidates and "IN DEPENDENCE" for DE Candidates and $20 for Candidates from the eight foreign centers
2). A CD containing JAMB eSyllabus, eBrochure and other vital materials is also given free.
Candidates should note that ePINS purchased are tied to individual profile and are not transferable.
3). Candidates are advised to keep as private and confidential their security details such as registration numbers, password/numbers of ATM Cards, email addresses and ePINs.

*How to Recover Lost ePIN after Payment:
i. If ePIN is not Received or Lost, send [UTMEPIN] or [DEPIN] to 55019 for UTME or DE respectively from the unique number ii. The ePIN would then be retrieved and delivered on the candidate's unique number
After successful payment and obtaining ePIN, candidate should proceed to any of the jamb accredited CBT centres to complete his/her registration.
ii. Inline with the Board's regulated registration exercise, only the accredited Computer Based Test Centres and JAMB Offices will be allowed to register candidates
iii. Each candidate should visit any accredited CBT centre with his/her personal details, the profile and evidence of payment.
JAMB Order of Choice of Institutions
Candidates should remember that their first preference may be a College of Education, University, Innovation Enterprise Institutes, Polytechnics/Monotechnics, NDA (Nigerian Defence Academy), or Nigeria Police Academy on the JAMB registration platform.
JAMB Examination Date - The 2021 CBT EXAMINATION is expected to commence before April 2021.
The test will take place at any center in the candidate's selected examination town (s)
JAMB does not assign candidates to any other examination town (or community of towns) than the one they selected at the time of registration.
Candidates are recommended, however, to file as soon as possible until the remaining spaces in their preferred town or group of towns are depleted and then no longer available.
Optional UTME-Mock-Examination
The board will also hold a mock exam in all approved CBT centres, as it did last year, to train and familiarize interested applicants with the CBT environment.
Candidates who are interested in taking the mock exam should show their interest during registration if they want to take it before February 2021.
After receiving notification from the center, CBT Centres are allowed to raise a separate Seven Hundred Naira (700) for this exercise from only interested candidates via their bank accounts.
After the notification of designated centers for the mock test, the applicant must pay for the mock examination at the center to which he or she is assigned mock examination.
No Association or body is permitted to run any mock examination on behalf of JAMB.
N/B: The only jamb accredited CBT centres can do valid registration and serve as examination centres. Do not pay for mock until jamb assigns you to a CBT centre. No one should patronize fraudsters, many of whom are now in custody for defrauding prospective candidates.
JAMB CBT Registration Centres - In line with the Board's regulated registration exercise, only the accredited Computer Based Test Centres and JAMB States and FCT Offices will be allowed to register candidates.
This is to avoid exploitation, off-line registration, mismatch of candidates' particulars, and other registration-irregularities.

Materials Needed for JAMB Registration
All candidates who are to register for 2021 JAMB are going to be tested based on a general book that is to be made available to all candidates and the name of the book is; "Sweet Sixteen."
- A soft copy of the current JAMB 2021 Syllabus for the examination.
- A material containing all the Admission procedures and requirements of Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria which also include the available programs of study in the institutions.
During the process of registration, The following will be made available to all candidates:

The eligible institution or institution type for Jamb registration will be made available online. They are;
- All candidates must create a JAMB profile before proceeding to get the ePIN from any JAMB assigned CBT center.
- The registration fee is non-refundable.
- As it is the practice, centers are allowed to charge not more than Seven Hundred Naira (₦700)only as a registration fee. Any center that charges more than Seven Hundred Naira (₦700) should be reported to JAMB for appropriate sanctions
- CBT centers have been mandated to select any of the participating banks, MMOs, MFBs, etc. These financial institutions are to be present at the CBT center for the purpose of collecting all fees. No CBT center staff is allowed to conduct direct cash transaction with the candidates
- Candidates are advised to read and understand the guidelines on admission and instructions and how to complete the registration 2020 before commencing the process of registration.
- Multiple registrations are not allowed. Candidates who register more than once will be identified and disqualified
- Candidates should note that they are required to be present and take a live photograph which will be embossed on their result slips and admission letters. No scanned/stapled passport photograph is allowed
- Candidates are to note that irrespective of their choice of course of study, they will also be tested on a general text: "Sweet Sixteen by Bolaji Abdullahi" for UTME and "In Dependence" by Sarah Ladipo Manyika for Direct Entry Candidates
- Candidates/Officials would not be allowed to enter the examination center with a wristwatch, Phone, electronic device, or any pen/biro. The only pencil is allowed
- Candidates are warned that the Board does not require nor authorize the services of ANY cyber café or establishment other than the accredited CBT centers for this exercise
