Jake Paul, a professional boxer from the United States, may have defrauded investors of $6.3 million by promoting yet another NFT business that failed to live up to promises and was marketed by him.
The “Animoon” NFT initiative promoted itself as the most anticipated play-to-earn game, with 9,999 NFTs generated by an algorithm. Animoon announced that its Pokémon-based NFTs with a value of 0.2ETH each were created in partnership with official Pokémon partner TopDeck. It even claimed that Pokémon and it had signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).
It is common practice for NFT companies to join with a renowned celebrity for promotional purposes, and Animoon picked convicted fraudster Jake Paul to head the operation. In a promotional film, Paul addressed his followers:
” I’m just grateful to be a part of this project, I love the designs inspired by Pokémon – the whole nine yards. I’m gonna try and get a Legendary [Animoon] during the public mint, but y’all better not miss this. Be ready for the mint.”
Unfortunately, Animoon did not meet its various promises after Paul’s suggestion attracted additional investors to the company.
The shoes and t-shirts that were meant to be mailed to investors did not come, and the 15 ‘Legendary’ NFT holders have not been awarded their monetary awards.
ZachXBT, a cryptocurrency investigator, uses the Breadcrumbs analytics tool to demonstrate that the $6,3 million raised by Animoon has already been transferred to Binance and KuCoin.
Currently, the Animoon Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) account is inactive, the website is inaccessible, and the general conversation has been removed from the Discord image.
Jake Paul is quickly gaining a reputation in the crypto world as the go-to person for promoting projects, regardless of their quality. He has funded many rubbish projects in the past, including Sacred Devils and STICKDIX, which earned him up to $2.2 million.
The designers of Animoon, Mounir Mokaddem, and Singainy Marc Oceane, seem to have a lengthy history of unlawful activities. Sources indicate that they are both now living in Dubai.
