Following a run of shows across the United States and a scene-stealing performance on Later… with Jools Holland, Jade Bird has released her seething new single ‘Furious’. Taking inspiration from Alanis Morrissette and Patti Smith and featuring just Jade and an acoustic guitar, it’s the tale of a woman who was wronged in a vile way and it finds Jade summing up the anger and pain of this betrayal: ‘I’m furious, my whole body shakes. I’m furious, my mind slips away. How could you do this after everything?’. The sparse and quiet nature gives extra depth to the way this lover acted (‘You take off your ring, so the lady wouldn’t look at you as you just checked in’) and to Jade’s regrets for falling for his lies: ‘I can’t believe I felt like I did. All your alibis reeled me in. I swear I hear you laughing’.
