Failure by Design and Alcopop! Records co-signings itoldyouiwouldeatyou have unveiled details of their debut album ‘Oh Dearism’ and released a video for lead single ‘Gold Rush’ (directed by Chevy Blazer and produced by Clumsy Bodies). The song opens with a thrilling combo of Tellison-style melody, clattering drums and midi keyboards before Joey Ashworth delivers a missive urging anyone else who’s angry with the world to join them and their ityiwey bandmates in making a difference, no matter what it takes: ‘Turn on the light, raise fist to sky’.
The song then goes on to find Joey offering words of consolation and support ‘It’s ok, you’ve been hurt for a long time. It’s over, and then it is alright. Breathe in, you’re just stuck in your body for now’ before examining their own personal issues in a similar way to Muncie Girls’ recent single ‘Picture of Health’: ‘Don’t leave me on the answerphone. Leave it all alone. Pick it up yourself’. The song hints at an even wider range of influences coming through on the record and we cannot wait to hear it.
