itoldyouiwouldeatyou. Failure by Design Records. Alcopop! Records. There are a lot of brilliant, beautiful people involved in all three of these and now they’re set to come together with the release of the new ityiwey EP ‘Get Terrified’ (out 20 April) – a set of physically unreleased previous singles and new material.
The title track has now been unveiled, complete with a video (directed by Chevy Blazer and produced by Clumsy Bodies) that captures the feelings of being an outsider at the school dance. This complements the theme of the song that despite the division and cynicism that surrounds us – especially the younger generation – we are better working together and focusing and celebrating our love.
Expanded to a seven-piece for this release, ‘Get Terrified’ opens with subtle, gliding Foxing-style guitars and captivating drums before the band let their post-hardcore influences take over with massive riffs and the repeated words of ‘Get terrified’ being sang and then shouted with increasing urgency in unison by Joey Ashworth and Holly Readman. There is then talk about ‘the future the liberals want’ and how important it is to demand answers to the questions the band are asking. It’s a thrilling ride.
Oh, and long-term readers/local music fans will know who the lady the school is named after is… You’ll want to save your last dance for itoldyouiwouldeatyou.
