Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) has decided to support Opposition Leader and the Presidential candidate of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya-led alliance Sajith Premadasa at the upcoming Presidential Election. This was announced by party spokesman MP M. A. Sumanthiran yesterday.
MP Sumanthiran said that this decision was reached during the ITAK Central Committee meeting held in Vavuniya yesterday. He also said the ITAK decided not to support the Tamil common candidate P. Ariyanethiran.
The central committee of the ITAK has also decided to request Ariyanethiran to withdraw from contesting at the upcoming election.
“Since our party did not announce any resolution so far, the party members acted in various ways. Now the decision has been taken to support Sajith Premadasa and the party members should act accordingly,” Sumanthiran said.
