As the new year starts, most of us could afford to make a resolution to improve the organization of our house, reducing its clutter. During the holiday season we usually focus on decorating our home ready for the season and put our concerns for organization on the wayside. We find clever ways to hide our clutter. Now the holidays are over, it’s time to get that house back in order! In my own home, allergies is an issue and so I have to constantly dust and vacuum to keep the home allergen-free. This forces me to keep the house well-organized, even though I’m by no means a cleanliness freak. With 2013 already in its 5th day, I’m going to start my resolution to get my house back in order. Here’s my checklist for making my life easy and stress free.
1. This year I resolve to organize my pantry. It’s been on my to-do list forever! I have a small pantry, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be clutter free with the items inside clearly labeled. I want to get a door for the pantry that I can easily be paint with chalk paint. This can help me keep track of what’s needed for the next grocery run, so that I don’t have to guess while I’m at the store. As things are now, I keep buying items that are already in my pantry.

2. I’m going to organize the laundry area. I’ll make use of the higher shelves more efficiently. I’ll relocate non-laundry items to the household-items storage area.

3. The bedroom closets will get some work too. We have installed organizational systems in all our closets. There’s no excuse why clothes cannot be folded neatly and organized according to season and colors.
4. Then there’s the linen closet. It’s a small closet with shelves. This year I plan on updating our linen supply.

Aside from cleaning up the room, I’m also thinking of doing some DIY projects. I’ve bought some materials to motivate me to add some color to the room and keep my inspiration motivated.
