One of the most notorious phrases in the language of broken hearts.
So cliched. So cringe.
So faux-compassionate.
But take a moment to untangle this phrase from the center of your heartbreak,
drain it from the heavy air that surrounds you as you stand face to face from the person who has said it to you.
Now take this sentence, and plant it in your heart,
let it shine through you every day as you go about your life,
because this is freedom.
It’s not you, it’s me.
It’s me.
It’s not you who is responsible for my happiness, it’s me.
It’s not you who is in charge of my pain, it’s me.
It’s not you who is holding me back form a bigger slice of life, it’s me.
It’s not you who holds a key to my peace, it’s me.
It’s not you who keeps me, It’s me. I’m free.
There you have it, my first short blog post.
