Insidious sexism in the search box

A few minutes ago I read an article on mashable about sexism in Google searches. Having noted the autocomplete results In America, it encouraged people in other countries to check what happened when they tried phrases such as “women should” and “women want” to see what they revealed. The results in the UK, as seen below, are not encouraging:

Is this really the product of the same world which has welcomed Malala (quite rightly) to the pantheon of heroes, and bought her book by the thousand?

Until hidden sexism is eradicated we shall never eradicate its more obvious cousin.

Must try harder.
