Today, I turned 50! I don’t feel a minute over 3o to be honest. In fact, when I turned 30 I thought my life was over. I had a premonition that I was going to die young. lol Nope. It does help that my grandmother is 96 this year, so I have that going for me.
Since I have been alive for 50 years. I have seen, heard and done a lot. AND I have managed to stay out of jail. Never even got a speeding ticket! So today I thought I would write about a few things I have learned or that amazed me in the 50 years I have been alive.
*I still can’t believe we have cell phones that are actually small computers. My grandmother still can’t believe you can text and email a person from your phone and get a response right away.
*Google still thrills me with all it’s knowledge that I suffered to learn the hard way growing up. You know, going to an actual library and looking things up in the card catalog.
*Never buy an extended warranty. They are mostly worthless.
*I can’t drink as much alcohol as I used to. So shots.
*Not everyone likes me and I am ok with that. (I don’t like a lot of people either)
*I remember when MTV started up. I so wanted to be a VJ. I even sent in an application but they never called me. (Rat Bastards!)
*I cried when Princess Diana died. I thought she would rule the world one day.
*I remember the end of the Vietnam war. I had a bracelet with the name of a POW on it. Back then I didn’t know the significance of that bracelet and do not know if my guy ever turned up.
*I remember OJ’s trial. We all know he did it.
*I remember 911 and I will never forget.
*Microwaves! Best thing ever!
*I married the right man at the right time.
*I have 2 awesome kids that have my sense of humor.
*I have two great parents with stories of their own that have inspired me to be the person I am today. And I have my father’s humor.
*I have some really good friends and a few great BFF’s that keep me grounded and loaded with lots of material.
*I wanted to write a book before my 50th birthday but I didn’t take into account that some people will have to die before I can write it or lawsuits.
*I have a pretty lucky, blessed life. I have no complaints (even though I like to complain for the sake of complaining) and no regrets. It’s not all wonderful but it’s not supposed to be. So I hope you keep reading my tantrums, rants and adventures for at least a few more years. Thanks for always following, sharing and commenting!
*Peace Out Bitches! Time for CAKE and a glass of Champagne…
