On World Autism Awareness Day, April 2, 2022, iGA Istanbul Airport (IST) announced the ‘Dreams Are Moving to Digital – From Canvas to Pixels’ initiative in collaboration with the Turkish Autistic Support and Education Foundation (TODEV) and Upfilts technology partner. As part of the trial, children with autism were given the opportunity to use the airport’s accessible services, and the revenues from the sale of NFTs were donated to TODEV.
Based on its ‘Airport For Everyone’ principle of caring about the rights of individuals with special needs from the moment they are born and focusing on the goal of becoming a more ‘accessible’ airport for all of its guests, iGA Istanbul Airport has added other significant social responsibility projects to its works in this area.
With the help of the TODEV, the ‘Dreams Are Moving to Digital – From Canvas to Pixels’ initiative was started in November 2021 to guarantee that persons with autism are better understood by society as a whole. As part of the project’s scope, children with autism were encouraged to paint their perfect vacation. These photographs were uploaded to digital platforms like SparkAR and then enhanced with visual effects and animations using various 2D and 3D design applications, all inspired by the stories the kids created while drawing. AR technology allows users to engage with the upgraded artworks via their social media accounts. Furthermore, digitizing these children’s imaginations allows for a better comprehension of them.
