Is This Abstract Painting Finished?

By Abstractartbylt @artbylt

I've been working on this new abstract painting for a while now, each time obliterating what came before it.  This time I wanted to keep what I had, but make the changes that would shape it into a finished work of art.  That meant spending a lot of time looking at the canvas before I began to paint.

First, I developed more of the hints of black that were already there, by filling in some of the sections that already had touches of black, or black lines. Then I decided I didn't like the dark reds, and added a thin cover of pyrole red to brighten them up.  I thought the grayish plum color was too dark also, so I mixed the plum with more white and repainted those sections.

There were a couple minor touches of orange in this painting, but I strengthened these with pyrole orange, adding new sections where I thought necessary.  Finally, I drew black lines around some of the more amorphous shapes to delineate the compositional elements, causing some to pop into the foreground.

Overall, I feel it works much better now.  What do you think?
