Is Sin City Safe?

Torrential rain and hail storms in the Federal Province of Styria have reportedly resulted in a tragic death and considerable destruction in the last 24 hours. More bad weather is forecast for the next day or so. With this in mind, is ‘sin city’ safe?

Eye of the Storm

From what has been reported by Reuters in Vienna, it would seem that the carnage wreaked against the dear Dammen and Herren of Styria in the past day is mainly in the east of the province around the border area with the Salzkammergut and towards Graz. Travel time distance from Stadl an der Mur is a couple of hours to where the mudslides have occurred.

The eye of the storm seems to have missed Murau and the gateway to the Mur Valley. Whilst I wish everyone in the affected area a speedy return to normal life, I admit to being more than a little relieved that Chalet Lowonahill is in a safe place at Stadl and waiting to welcome guests for the rest of the summer season.

Weather Forecast For The Weeks Ahead

A quick check of the weather forecast suggests that the temperatures will remain warm and the rains will abate, giving way to sunshine and clear skies. So if you fancy a last minute break away to the Austrian Alps, contact me now to see what late availability there might be.
