Today’s NameJet emoji domain auction results give the appearance that interest is waning for emoji domains.
Of course, this loosely held opinion is based on NameJet finishing last year quite strong with a number of .WS emoji domain auctions closing with 4-figure amounts.
So, how in the world does NameJet emoji domain auctions go from 4-figure amounts to barely meeting or not meeting 3-figure reserves? 🤔
Out of the 9 single .WS emoji domains closing in Public auction today, 🔝.ws and 🖍.ws are the only emoji domain auctions meeting reserve at $500 and $71 closing auction price.
🖍.ws – $71, No reserve
💠.ws – $100, $500 or less, RNM
🐇.ws – $170, $500 or less, RNM
🔱.ws – $260, Between $501 and $1000, RNM
🔝.ws – $500, $500 or less, RM
🦂.ws – $500, Between $501 and $1000, RNM
🗿.ws – $500, Between $501 and $1000, RNM
🇨🇳.ws – $550, Between $2501 and $5000, RNM
💦.ws – $1001, Between $1001 and $2500, RNM
RM = Reserve Met / RNM = Reserve Not Met
As for answering the question of “how”, some might say emoji domain auctions didn’t have *enough* participating or qualified bidders.
I’m not certain this is the case, seeing most of the 9 single .WS emoji domains had a minimum of at least 4-5 participating bidders.
Now, maybe respective bidders simply placed bids to be flies on the proverbial wall of their selected emoji domain auctions. Regardless, they’re still bidders.
And as for *qualified* bidders, well, that’s a different story because after all, what truly *qualifies* a bidder?
Moving right along, others might argue the quality and popularity of the emoji domains in auction.
That could be said and belief be held, but I would argue both 🇨🇳.ws (China flag emoji) and 💦.ws (sweat droplets emoji) are quite popular emojis used in daily communication.
I’m surprised 🇨🇳.ws didn’t meet reserve, seeing that China represents nearly 1.5 billion (~ 20%) of the nearly 7.5 billion global population.
And as for 💦.ws, it’s quite popular and used often (whether adulterated or non-adulterated 🤭) via Twitter, per EmojiTracker.com.
In addition, 🐇.ws and 🦂.ws could easily represent and brand a sports team or two while 💠.ws could represent a jewelry business, miner, trader or retailer.
There are so many varying perspectives to consider when attempting to objectively answer this question of “how”.
Although I don’t know the exact answer to the question at this very moment, the answer is likely to be revealed in the coming weeks as the pending 40 or so emoji domain auctions await their chance at public auction.
