Iryat Bet Shemesh has announced that it is heading towards opening a hospital. The announcement says that yesterday the mayor and other senior officials in Iryat Bet Shemesh met with medical and administrative representatives of Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center, and toured the premises.
The city people went to see the various departments and the new operating rooms.
At their meeting, Mayor of Bet Shemesh Moshe Abutbol told the Hadassah reps that the City has designated 120 dunam of land for the establishment of a medical center and are looking to connect to an existing enter like Hadassah. Abutbol detailed the growth of Bet Shemesh and the population fo the moshavim surrounding Bet Shemesh, explaining the importance of such a medical center in the area.
The Director of Hadassah explained that Hadassah is divided into two locations and both provide all the various types of treatments and that they have a desire to cooperate with Bet Shemesh on such a project and send doctors to service the community in such a center.

The headline of the original article makes it sound as if the opening of the hospital is already a done deal and this visit was to work out a partnership with Hadassah. I hope it is true, but I have a hard time believing that it actually is. Only time will tell.
