iRobot Create 2 is your very own programmable robot. It is an affordable STEM resource for educators, students and developers. By playing and working with the robot you get a grasp of the fundamentals of robotics, computer science and engineering. It has a rechargeable battery but it also comes with a self-charging home base where it can drive and park too feed the hungry sensors. Everything is open source as far as possible and this is a great project for father and son to tackle together. You have the freedom to do a lot but the iRobot team has some ideas if you don't yet. Ideas include mounting a camera on your robot or turning it into a roaming DJ.
