iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 are two incredible smartphones. Both offer superior performance and user experience. But despite many similarities regarding functionality, iPhone X and Galaxy Note 8 differ in some ways. Here are seven ways they differ.
Of course, this is the biggest difference between the two smartphones. And very often, it is a deciding factor too for iOS lovers and Android fans. IPhone X comes with iOS 11, while Galaxy Note 8 will show off Android 7.0 Nougat. As usual, the two phone makes differ in how they adopt technologies. Samsung leverages on novel third-party technologies, while Apple continues to look out for more custom design for their product. The Hexa-Core Bionic A11 processor is custom built specifically for iPhone X.
On the other hand, Samsung capitalizes on Octa-Core Exynos 8895 for international markets and Octa-Core Snapdragon 835 for local markets. This difference in processors is evident in speed, RAM, battery capacity, and overall performance. As usual, iOS is lighter and therefore requires less RAM and power to run. Samsung has however countered with 6GB RAM and 3300mAh battery.
Galaxy Note 8 leverages on fingerprints as the safest way to unlock your phone. Apple is futuristic and believes in face recognition capability. In fact, they have even added several features to go with face ID such as Animojis.
Note 8 is 6.3 inches compared to iPhone X, which is 5.8 inches. Note 8 has a colossal super AMOLED screen with a screen resolution of 1,440 x 2,960. This translates to a pixel density of 521. IPhone X comes with an OLED screen with a screen resolution of 1,125 x 2,436, a PPI of 458. It seems Galaxy is not just bigger; it is better in this category.
Galaxy Note 8 is a cheaper option between the two. First, Note 8 comes with an expandable memory card slot that can expand up to 256 GB. That means it only comes in the 64GB internal memory option at $930. On the other hand, iPhone X starts at $999. There are two option to choose from, 64GB at $999 and 256GB at $1149.
Apart from many apparent similarities in the camera capacity, iPhone X comes with AR capability through 3D Touch and True Tone capability. Galaxy Note 8's back camera is 8MP to counter, but still lags behind in slo-mo videos as iPhone X plays 240fps at 1080P, 60fps at 4K, almost twice what Note 8 manages.
IPhone does not have a home button; instead, the front is all screen safe for the face ID functionality at the top of the portrait. Note 8 has a home button and a curved screen to slide in menus.
IPhone X is compact, 6mm thinner than Note 8, which is heavier too. Note also comes with a stylus.
