IPA Day 2014 is Today – This Year I Am Sticking Local

By Bolanrox

Ah another IPA day is upon us, cant it be Saison Day, or Kolsch day?

Pending that ever happening (Stout day is I think about 3 months out I do believe), I might as well hop in and pick something new to try.  Recapping last year I went with an extremely fresh (for getting it on the east coast at least) Bear Republic Racer 5.

For this year I wanted to try something that I haven’t had yet (which of the IPA world there are many) but to try and stay local.

Following those search terms the choice was easy: Flying Fish Exit 16 Wild Rice Double IPA.  Yes, Yes, I know I would rather have the ambrosia of the stout sea that is Exit 1 (Oyster Day was Tuesday after all), but this one had always been on my list of to tries but I had never gotten around to.   So when I found a fresh bottle sitting on the singles shelf it was an easy choice.

Why I picked it – Well it is giving props to the swamps of Jersey I commute to work every day to and uses one of the words we must not use when talking about craft beer ingredient  (whisper  rice /whisper).  That and being most definitely local and something I have never had.

Cheers! Happy #IPAday14
