iOS 14 Widgets You Can Try Today – ProWellTech

Despite the surprise release of iOS 14 that left app developers unprepared, few ambitious people managed to make their way - or even pull a whole night - to make their apps available with iOS 14 support on launch day. For the first time in years, the new version of iOS offers consumers a new way to organize home screens. Now, less frequently used apps can be moved to the app library on the iPhone's back screen, while those apps that offer information and updates can present their content through the new home screen widgets.

Over time, widget support will become a standard feature for a large number of apps. But due to the way Apple chose to release iOS 14 this year, there may not be as many app widgets offered on day one.

Below are some of the first apps launched today alongside iOS 14 that include cool iOS 14 widgets. These apps and their related widgets are expected to be available today shortly after iOS 14 is released.

Aviary

The Twitter Aviary client has released widgets that allow you to view 1, 2 or 4 of the most recent tweets (depending on the size of the selected widget) from the Twitter timeline. The widgets will also periodically update themselves. The app will be available today after the launch of iOS 14.

Short

Unbiased news app Brief delivers on its promise of avoiding clickbait with its minimalist, monochrome widget designed to stop attention hijacking. The content of the "Front Page" widget will be carefully curated by its news team, so only the most important stories of the day will be displayed on the home screen.

A second "Election Snapshot" widget will allow you to keep track of current presidential, home and senate contests at a glance. Users can customize this widget to track their most popular races, such as those in their home state, for example.

Soor

Soor, a premium music playing app for iPhone users, has released three widgets of various sizes. The Now Playing widget shows the current song and what happens next, and updates in near real time. There is also a "Magic Mixes" widget for your mixes and a "Music Collection" widget which can be configured to show 8 types of selected content.

Readdle: Spark Mail, Calendar 5, Documents

Readdle has released widgets for its Calendar app for iOS that show your appointments and the month.

Its Spark Mail app also offers email and calendar widgets.

And Documents by Readdle adds widgets for quick access to file actions like VPN, music, player, browser, etc.

Cheep

Cheep's app lets you know about wrong fares or other ridiculously discounted flight offers. Its new widgets for iOS 14 can be customized to present offers from your airports and can be grouped to make it easier to view offers without opening the app.

Nut

Dice, from the maker of PCalc, is a physics-based simulation of polyhedral dice for use in tabletop RPGs. The app's new widgets bring its dice to your home screen allowing you to open the app with a simple tap.

Weather line

The Weather Line forecast app already offers a lot of visual data related to the weather and forecasts. It is now bringing its insights and graphs directly to the iOS 14 home screen. The app's all-in-one weather widget provides current conditions, forecast and other content such as high / low, sunrise / sunset, incoming rain, weather alerts extremes and more.

Nighthawk

Nighthawk's Twitter client will release its first widget today, "Vanity," which allows you to keep an eye on your Twitter profile metrics, such as how many followers you have and how many you are following.

Apollo for Reddit

The popular Reddit Apollo client app offers a collection of widgets, including a Post widget that displays a post from a Reddit feed of your choice, a Multiple Posts widget that will show several posts from your favorite feed, a Post Feed Grid that features the post in a more visual, grid-style layout, a Wallpaper widget that will rotate through the images-packed subreddit photos you like, as well as Shower Thoughts and Jokes widgets that add some humor to your home screen.

Carrot time

The iOS 14 version of Carrot's humorous weather app offers a forecast widget, hourly and daily widgets, a weather map widget, and - in true carrot style - a snark widget that provides your weather with the classic ironic app comments .

Tangerine

The Tangerine habits and mood tracking app will offer a variety of widgets to remind you of your progress throughout the day, such as your schedule to run, exercise, drink water or whatever else you can track.

Nudget

Nudget's mobile budgeting app will introduce widgets to keep up with your family budget, including things like those categories where you've overspent or cut your expenses and how much money you've left this week.

Birch

The Birch Organized Photo Notes app includes a Featured Photos widget that lets you put a photo on your home screen - a neat trick, as there's no way to do this with the iOS Photos app. (Presentation today)
