Invincible Season 2 will premiere this year, so here’s everything we know thus far, from release date updates to cast, plot, trailer, and other details.
The first season of The Boys, based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic book series, was released on Amazon in 2019. Its early success, aided by its startlingly gruesome violence, demonstrated that mainstream viewers were hungry for R-rated superhero fare that wasn’t only grim and depressing.
After two years, the streaming service released Invincible, an animated version of Robert Kirkman’s comics. The drama immediately attracted its admirers, who fervently wanted another season after its brutal conclusion, thanks to a frightening series opening.
Amazon, thankfully, listened. We’re getting not only Season 2 of Invincible, but also a third season. Given Kirkman’s original series’ horrible twists and turns, there’s a lot of territory to cover in the Invincible universe. We’ll hopefully join Mark Grayson on the next chapter of his journey soon.

Invincible Season 2 release date: When is it coming out?
Invincible Season 2 release dateInvincible Season 2 will premiere on Amazon Prime in late 2023.
Kirkman previously told Collider, “The production timeline is somewhat daunting.” I believe we spent several years developing and working on this season. Things will hopefully tighten up as we get into Season 2 and beyond.
A few months later, Kirkman gave fans an update, saying that “it’s coming along really great” and that he “can’t wait for people to finally…stop asking [him] about it:”
“There’s definitely going to be a lot less designing and different things that have to happen to get us into our second season.” And it’s absolutely feasible that work on the second season has already begun. So, if this concert is a success, I believe we’re in a strong position to move forward.”
Go Prime VideoWas Invincible Season 2 Delayed?
The next season of Invincible was never postponed because it never had a release date to begin with. So the real inquiry should be why the following season has taken so long to arrive.
Due to Amazon’s delayed renewal, production began immediately after Invincible’s first season was released, rather than after post-production was completed. Furthermore, if the animated teaser is any indicator, the animation quality has vastly improved, which may account for the extended production cycle this season.
According to Kirkman, because Invincible has already been renewed for a third season, viewers should not expect “a similar gap” of two years between seasons. He expressed sympathy for viewers, stating that “once Season 2 comes out,” he believes it would be “smooth sailing from there on:”

Invincible Season 2 plot: What will it be about?
We last saw Omni-Man flying out into space, traveling to an unknown location, after failing to carry out his plan to assassinate Mark and enslave the human species for the Viltrumite Empire.
Cecil asked Mark as Earth’s new defender, therefore Season 2 will most likely follow his efforts to keep the planet safe from the Viltrumites while simultaneously helping the Coalition of Planets. There’s also the Martian Sequids, who have infiltrated Earth via an astronaut, and, more scarier, Mark’s efforts to graduate high school and keep his connection with Amber.
Kirkman told The AV Club that the montage at the end of Season 1’s final episode is a good place to search for clues concerning the plot of Invincible Season 2.
“With the montage, I really wanted to remind the audience of the many threads we had and reveal to them that anything and everything that happened in Season 1 matters,” he explained.
“Even minor details will play a significant role in the future.” I wanted to incorporate a lot more of those pops, but it was getting excessive.
“It also gives the impression that Nolan is no longer on the table for the time being, so Mark no longer has a mentor, but all of the problems remain.” Moving forward, we’ll get to see a totally different Invincible who has to work things out on his own.
“It establishes a different story for Season 2 and beyond, which is where you want to be with a show like this.” You want each season to have a unique flavor, mood, and exploration of the primary character.”

Kirkman also teased at the return of Angstrom Levy, one of Mark’s key adversaries in the comics. “[Levy] really shakes things up,” he stated at the Skybound Xpo Invincible discussion.
“If you’ve read the comics and seen the TV show, you’ll get a sense of where we’re going with the second season, especially if you think about how we adapted the story in the first season.”
There’s also a movie in the works, which has been “a lot” inspired by the show’s success and may even be an adaptation of the series rather than the comic – find out more here.
Meanwhile, the first season is still available to watch if you want to relive your feelings…
