My last order from Amazon included the book “Raw food made easy for 1 or two people” by Jennifer Cornbleet. I decided to explore the raw food movement as I believe that by introducing uncooked vegetables and fruit into a standard, in my case vegetarian diet, can be very beneficial for over-all health. In fact, by cooking and over-cooking vegetables we destroy most of the nutritive ingredients that our body needs. One of the easiest recipes in the book are green smoothies – shakes made by blending fruits with green leafy vegetables. There are really countless variations, but I decided to use ingredients which I don’t consume very often in my diet, such as spinach and celery.
So here’s what I mixed for my green smoothie:
Oranges, kiwi, spinach, celery, ginger, almonds, coconut powder. It turned out to be quite delicious and it only took 5 minutes to make in a simply blender. I definitely recommend it as a healthy and tasty snack.
