Over the years, many of you have written to me asking for nutritional information, printable recipes, and the ability to save your favorite recipes (with automated shopping lists) on this site to a personal recipe box. Which is why, I couldn’t be more excited to announce that, because of a partnership with a company called ZipList, I can now offer you these features here on The Picky Eater. Not only can you save your favorite recipes from The Picky Eater to your Recipe Box on ZipList, you can also save favorites from dozens of other sites, including Martha StewartJoy of BakingThe Perfect Pantry, and Recipe Girl.

In addition to storing your favorite recipes to your Recipe Box, you can also easily add the ingredients from a recipe to an online shopping list, which you can access from your mobile phone. And of course, all of this is completely free

:)

If you want to save a recipe to your Recipe Box, go to the recipe you’d like to save  (like my Chocolate Brownie Oatmeal or Healthy Vegetarian Lasagna), scroll to the bottom of the post and you’ll see a printable recipe with a “Save Recipe” button. Just click on the “Save Recipe” button above the main photo of the recipe on the recipe page.

If you don’t already have an account with ZipList, you will be prompted to create one. Once logged in, you can easily add recipes to your recipe box from The Picky Eater, or any site using ZipList. At anytime, if you want to check what recipes are in your recipe box, just click on the “Recipe Box” link under the Recipes drop down in the top navigation bar of this site.

You can access your shopping list online (which, for every recipe, automatically creates an editable shopping list for you based on the ingredients in the recipe!) in a few ways.

Option 1: From the Recipe Box page, click on “My Lists“: This will let you see any lists you’ve created from recipes you’ve already saved.

Option 2: From the Recipe Box Page, click on “Recipes”. Hover over one of the recipe thumbnails, and click on “Add to List.” A popup will appear, and all you have to do is click “Add Items” and they will show up on the “My Lists” page.

Option 3: When you are on a particular recipe post, and you click on the “Save Recipe” button, you will have the option to save the recipe to your Recipe Box, or save it to your Shopping List and your Recipe Box. Click on “List” and you will be taken to your Shopping List, which will now include all of the ingredients from that recipe (which you can edit/change depending on which you already have on hand)

Pretty cool right?

:)

All of the recipes on The Picky Eater from the past 1.5 years have been updated with detailed nutritional information, the ability to print the recipes, and of course, the ability to save them to your Recipe Box and create Shopping Lists! I’ll be working on getting some of the older recipes updated to this format asap, but if there are any you see that you’d like me to prioritize, don’t hesitate to contact me and let me know.

This service by ZipList continues to evolve, and they are interested in your feedback (me too!). So, please try these features out and let us know what you think. What do you like? What do you think could be improved? If anything doesn’t work well for you, definitely let me know.

Hope you like it!
