This blog refresh has been a long time coming.
For those of you who may not have noticed, I have had a renaissance of sorts!
I chose the name Blue October back in 2010, and really plucked it out of nowhere. If I had done a little more research I would have known it is an American rock band (!) and may have chosen something more personal to me. But at the time I was desperate to keep my corner of the internet fairly anonymous, and didn't want anything directly linked to my name.
You may or may not know that I am a teacher, and the age group I teach (A Level, so 16-19 years old) are pretty internet-savvy. I've really tried to keep a clear distance between my blog and 'real-life', but I suppose the older I get the less I am concerned by this. I post recipes, tales of our meals out and the odd travel snap - nothing ground breaking or incriminating! That's not to say I would be thrilled if my students discovered my site - I like to keep some of myself back - but I think now is the time to embrace a more personal approach.
And lets face it, BlueOctober is just so wanky. Yes, I said it.
Any others out there had that moment when someone asks you the name of your site and you completely cringe? After that I knew something needed to happen.
So here you have it. Lizzie, Lately.
It doesn't require any explanation, does it? But I feel it sums up what this is all about, and putting my name in there gives me just a little more ownership. And not just on here; you may have noticed I have been showing more of my face on my Instagram in recent months.
