Introducing: Indian Summer

Posted on the 18 November 2014 by Spectralnights

‘By No One, For Nothing’ is the new single from Coventry indie-rockers Indian Summer and it’s a slice of sun-kissed indie pop to warm up with as we head into winter. There’s something of the Cribs in the repeated guitar riff, while the production is far cleaner than the Wakefield brothers’ early outings. There are also elements of Teenage Fanclub or the more retrospective side of Britpop in the song’s hook-laden melody, even though the song covers deeper subjects: ‘You made a lot of money so where’s the rationale?’.

Ending with the repeated mantra of ‘There must be some kind of way out of here’, the song also gives a nod to 70s and 80s rockers like Television and the Cure.
