Into the Heart of Game of Thrones

Hey lads! Has this trilogy ever crossed your path? I recently bought a three-volume pre-GoT era George R.R. Martin from a second-hand bookseller in mighty Istanbul. Tales of Dunk and Egg is a a series of novellas set in the world of his Song of Ice and Fire cycle.

Mystery Knight

The saga and stories connect the adventures of Dunk (eponymously called Ser Duncan the Tall, a legendary member of the Kingsguard before the time of A Song of Ice and Fire) and Egg (the nickname of Aegon V Targaryen, a prince of Westeros, who would later become the king and protector of the realm) beginning with their meeting 89 years before the events of the main Song of Ice and Fire cycle and intended to cover a long period.

This feels as if reading Silmarillon, Hobbit or The Adventures of Tom Bombadil before embarking on LOTR adventure.

Well well well, three novellas out of a foreseen 9 have been published so far and the trilogy  comprise of The Hedge KnightThe Sworn Sword and The Mystery Knight.

Hedgeknight
Sworn Sword

A must-read eternal triangle that unveils what has really happened a century before Lord Eddard “Ned” Stark was drawn into schemes against King Robert Baratheon when the Hand of the King John Arryn (Robert’s chief advisor) was murdered by King Slayer Jamie Lannister.

Bonne Lecture mes amis!
