Verdict on Into the Deep
Recap
The movie follows a small diving crew who gets attacked by sharks and drug smugglers looking to collect their product. Meanwhile, one is battling her fear of the water after an attack while younger and the crew must figure out how to stay alive.
Best Parts
In this movie, we get a nice blend of ideas, from dealing with trauma from past shark attacks to pirates wanting drugs and treasure. By stepping away from one world we can have an expanded storyline. This is helped by the strong leading performance from Scout Taylor-Compton.
Worst Parts
In a world where we get shark movies nearly every week, this one doesn’t do enough to stand out. This is mainly down to the sharks never looking real and the CGI being clear to see. While the story has a lot going on, it tends to move too quickly with disposing of characters. It struggles to make any of the supporting characters stand out.
Final Thoughts – Into the Deep is a fun late-night shark movie.
