Interview with Brock Spencer from Misguided

Brisbane based Metalcore band Misguided have just announced the release of their debut single and film clip 'Know The Enemy'. The track is the first single from the band's upcoming debut EP, which they will release later in 2016. Tomatrax caught up with Brock Spencer to ask a few questions.

How did the band form?
Spencer's old band fell apart miserably. At the time he was writing new music and B.A started adding in lyrics he had written to the songs and it just worked. We asked our good friend Harrison to add some drums before he moved away, and the sausage was in the roll.

Where did the name the Misguided come from?
Spencer come up with it after many horrible attempts.

You've just released your debut single, what's it like to have it out?
Honestly, the response has been overwhelming. We did not expect it.

Where did you get the idea for the video for 'Know your enemy'?
B.A came up with the concept and the rest of the band added ideas throughout it. Was seriously a massive laugh coming up with it all.

You have your debut EP coming out later this year, how will the rest of the EP compare with 'Know your enemy'?
In our opinion, we chose to release one of our weaker songs first just to get the feel on how people would react to it. So, we hope it's going to go well.

What will the EP be titled?
It's Official.

You will soon be announcing a run of shows in support of your EP, what can fans expect from your show?
A live show where there is no fucking around. Fans will leave wanting more.

Do you ever listen to your own music?
Yes. Only when we are arguing about how it goes.

What other music do you listen to?
South Japanese Noise Core.

What do you have planned once your EP is out?
Crack a bottle of nice whiskey, have a shot each, and get to fucking work.
