The Scientists existed from 1978 to 1987 Originally from Perth they moved to Sydney then to London and spent equal time in each perfecting their specific brand of sonic terrorism. Feared and revered almost as much for their tacky yet stylish appearance as for their sound The Scientists were the ultimate 'cult' band.
Last year prestigious Chicago label Numero Group released a compilation of the Scientists' recorded catalogue entitled A Place Called Bad.

Tomatrax caught up with Boris to talk about the band's recent activities.
You'll be playing a series of shows around Australia this October, what inspired you to get back together for these shows?
Tony our guitarist, who lives in London was coming on a holiday, so we decided to do some shows .
What was it like for the band to get back together again?
We've played a few times over the last five years, mainly overseas, but to me it sounds very much like it did . We haven't changed that much.
What can fans expect from your show?
Like I said, it'll be pretty much like it was in the early 80's, sometimes chaotic, sometimes spectacular, sometimes both.
Are there any further shows planned following this upcoming tour?
We'll be doing a European tour next year, possibly the US as well.
Are there any plans for another Scientists' album?
We put out a single
You put out the 4CD box set A place called bad, what was the influence behind this release?
The American label, Numero Umo, approached us, so we agreed because of their track record.
Was it hard to pick what made it onto the box set?
They seemed to do all the research and I don't think much was left off.
Are there any plans for any other re-releases / deluxe editions of your past albums?
I don't think there are any more plans for any re releases, just maybe some new stuff.
You've been cited as a big influence on a number of bands in the grunge and garage roc scene, what was it like to hear artists influenced by your work?
There were a lot of good bands around then, so it's nice to be cited as influential. Don't forget we were influenced by bands before us, so it feels good to be part of that process.
Do you ever listen to your own music?
Not really, only when were rehearsing.
What music do you listen to?
I go through phases of listening to my old albums and then just the radio for new stuff and then maybe you tube
What do you have planned after your upcoming shows?
We're going to do mostly our usual set with a few new tracks and covers, so it should be chaotic and spectacular
