I had the pleasure of interviewing a young up and coming star in the world of football. Florida International University junior defender Anthony Hobbs is in quite an interesting and enviable situation as he will represent his country in the upcoming Olympics in London.
New Zealand will be in Group C alongside Egypt, Belarus and Brazil and for Hobbs that is a challenge worthy of taking. He is looking forward to his match against the Canarinha on August 1st at St. James’ Park.
He is also one of the more recognizable names that have been able to come to college soccer and possibly look at MLS as his new home come next year’s draft.
Listen and enjoy this conersation with a young up and comer that will be representing not just New Zealand, but also South Florida in the Olympic Games.
In this interview, he talks about the Olympics as well as his career at FIU and the arrival of Kenny Arena as Golden Panthers coach as well as his future professionally whether it be MLS or elsewhere.
He also talks about the growth of the game in New Zealand and even his brief rugby career.
Hope you enjoy.
