Iris Xe Max, Intel's latest version of its updated graphics architecture, is rolling out this week in three debut systems: the Acer Swift 3x, Asus VivoBook Flip TP470 and Dell Inspiron 15 7000 2-in-1. Although Iris Xe, the integrated version of Intel's 11th generation mobile processors, is already included in the Asus ZenBook 13 and other versions, Iris Xe Max has been Intel's first discrete graphics processing unit (GPU) for some time. It should be avoided that partners have to contact Nvidia GeForce MX Graphic line for laptops capable of occasional gaming 1,080 pixels and beginner builders. Intel offers a little extra as an incentive: Deep Link, with which a system can combine the processing power of the integrated and discrete Xe GPU for creative tasks such as AI inference and rendering (Additive AI) and video coding (Hyper Encode).
Intel also announced that it hopes to bring Iris Xe Max graphics to under $ 1,000 on base PCs by the end of June 2021.

Part of Intel's latest generation of Adaptix Performance Tuning Suite for partners, Deep Link includes Dynamic Power Share, which automatically assigns power and cooling to the computing processing unit when the GPU is idle for more sustained processing performance. This is similar to AMD's SmartShift, although SmartShift juggles CPU and GPU resources both ways. At least you will see significantly better benchmark and battery numbers in the Xe Max laptops than in models with Nvidia MX chips.

Iris Xe Max also offers two driver-controlled functions for games: game sharpening and instant game tuning. As with AMD's and Nvidia's Image Sharpening, game sharpening allows you to use slightly lower quality textures that are automatically processed for better-looking results than normal at higher frame rates.
The Iris Xe and Iris Xe Max GPUs are based on Intel's Xe-LP architecture, the first of their long-awaited journey into the major overhaul of their graphics technologies. Also on deck are rollouts for game-centric GPUs based on Xe-HP and Xe-HPC architectures for high-performance computers (also known as data centers).
