The haunted Lambert family seeks to uncover the mysterious childhood secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world.
This isn’t usually the type of film that I watch in general let alone see at the cinema, but having seen most of the current releases I went to see this at the cinema tonight. I haven’t seen the first “chapter” so wasn’t really sure what to expect. It turned out to have quite a complex story line which may have ended up even too complicated for itself.
It involves a lot of flashing backwards and forwards but you should make sense of it all at the end as it falls together and starts making a bit more sense. Obviously I cannot explain this in much depth as it would spoil the whole film.
As with any type of horror film the music, sound effects and slow movements really do have you on the edge of your seat. Wondering just when something is going to jump out, appear or anything else which may just happen. I jumped once as really wasn’t expecting something to be as loud as it was, that’s the other thing to remember the film is very loud!
I actually quite enjoyed it which is not what I was expecting to be saying after this film but it did appear to have a good storyline to it and a bit of thought put behind it all. I have to give them credit for that, the acting wasn’t awful even though I am not the biggest fan of Patrick Wilson. He always seems a bit creepy anyways so fits in very well in this type of film in my opinion.
So if you want to possibly be scared, I know some people are by this type of thing or even be a little spooked then this is the film for you. But if you like the more thriller style of films instead of horror you can get away with this film as well. A pretty good cinema experience!
