In the latest entry of the Inside True Blood Blog, writer’s assistant Benjamin Hayes defined an entry in the True Blood dictionary of terms. The term in question is go-to shift and it is the animal a shapeshifter feels the most comfortable shifting into, hence his/her go-to shift:
go-to shift | gō-to SHift |
nounThe default animal into which a shifter turns, usually an animal the shifter feels most comfortable with. There’s no rhyme or reason to this; similar to being right handed, it’s a preference expressed subconsciously. Sam (Sam Merlotte) explains to Sookie (Anna Paquin) that his go-to shift of a dog is because “people like dogs, and most other animals will leave you alone.”
