Do you take daily (or regular) outfit photos?
This is something you may see on many Instagram accounts or done as part of a style challenge (like my Evolve Your Style 31 day Style Challenge).
Following on from Jill Chivers' post this week about how taking daily outfit photos has really helped her improve and hone her style muscle, and also the feedback I get from those in my Evolve Your Style and 7 Steps to Style programs who do take daily (or regular) outfit photos, that it really does help you to become more analytical and objective about your style, what's good, not so good and what's lacking.
You get to see yourself more like others do (it's different from looking in the mirror).
Don't believe me? Then why not read this post from those who have done it and found it an incredibly useful exercise in improving their style.
A friend of mine (an image consultant) is challenging herself this year to take a photo a day and post it on instagram. She discovered from taking these photos that she'd really got stuck in a black rut. Seeing daily photos day after day, week after week and now month after month she realised that she'd gotten stuck in the "black rut". Even though black is a great neutral for her, she relied too heavily on it and had little colour. She's now bringing more colour into her outfits in a more conscious way.
I know that because I challenge myself to take an outfit photo most days, that it makes me think just a little bit more about what I'm putting on and making sure the outfit is finished.
Do you think your style could be improved?
Why not take the Inside Out Style Daily Outfit Photo Challenge and see just how your style changes and improves within a month.
To give you time to prepare, I'll be starting the challenge Monday 14th August.
This challenge is not about going shopping for new clothes, it's aimed at getting you to shop your wardrobe so that you get more value from the pieces you already own, find new ways of creating outfits that you might not have considered and helping you become more objective and analytical about your style.
There are lots of ways you can create your own challenge. Here are a few to consider:
Layering
Just as Jill Chivers challenged herself to create a daily outfit that included layers, you could use this simple concept to create your outfits each day. Try wearing different kinds of layers - from cardigans to jackets, long and short, kimonos, shawls, vests .... you could layer different colours or textures together - it's up to you!

Think that a minimal wardrobe is the way you want to go? Well before you throw it all out, challenge yourself to live on a capsule for a month so you can really find out if this is the right path for you to take.

Accessorizing
Do you tend to forget to accessorize? Do you want to challenge yourself to accessorize better, or with more accessories in each outfit?
Then why not choose to challenge yourself to accessorize each outfit, formal, work, casual (just not exercise wear) for a month?

Hero Dressing
Do you think your style is a little bland or boring? Want to push yourself a bit more in your style? Then why not dress with a hero

Play with Colour
Why not spend some time playing in the crayon box and mixing colours to get you thinking more about how you use colours in your outfits.
Lots of colour combining tips here.Dress Your Mood
You could just wear the clothes you normally wear based around mood and occasion, whatever you would put together for work and play on a regular day, just include taking an outfit photo so you can analyse your style over time.
These are just a few ideas of what to wear for your daily outfits and you could even combine the different ideas and do one each week over the next month or longer (as once you start you might not be able to stop!).
Photograph Your Daily Outfit
By taking a quick selfie (in the mirror is totally fine, or if you have someone who can take it for you that can also make it easier). Some of my tips on taking selfies are worth reading if you've never done this before:
