Information (from the Archives)

By Stevemiranda

Last year, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt told us, “We now generate as much information every two days as was generated from the beginning of time to 2003.”

Right now, untold thousands of high school kids across the country have access to all this information, 24 hours a day, on a phone that fits in their pocket. Five years from now, every single high school kid will have access.

The question is, will schools still be giving multiple choice, fill-in-the-bubble tests that ask students to recall facts from memory?

Or, will they be helping kids understand how to make decisions about what’s important and what’s not, and how to use information to enrich their lives and solve problems?
