INDYCAR Grand Prix Takes Over IMS and Will Power Takes Checkered Flag!It was a beautiful weekend in Indiana. Ideal for race fans heading to IMS for the Grand Prix, which offered an exciting weekend of events to enjoy. 2015 winner of the INDYCAR Grand Prix, Will Power got off to a great start this weekend by leading the practice session at 126.670 mph. Simon Pagenaud was fourth at 126.408 mph while Spencer Pigot 126.404 mph, which was pretty good for his sophomore run.
One of the fun events for families over the INDYCAR Grand Prix weekend was the special screening in Pagoda Plaza of the fun family film, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul" is the fourth movie based upon the wildly popular children's book series by author Jeff Kinney. You could feel the excitement building towards to 101st Indianapolis 500 Presented by PennGrade Motor Oil. Families and race fan's were taking advantage of the free admission to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum as well. This has always been a favorite spot to visit for our family and friends. The museum holds a amazing collection of vintage race cars, and the history of the track and races held there come to life through memorabilia and artifacts.
As fan's know, racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway can be a challenge. The weather plays an important part as well as track temperatures, and then there are the car's themselves. The proper tires can make the difference between a win or placing fifth as Helio Castroneves found out. While Will Power's Verizon Team went with softer-compound Firestone tires on Lap 64, Helio's crew used firmer Firestone blacks on Lap 65. It made all the difference for Will Power, who took the win with Scott Dixon, a four-time series champion hot on his heels to take second.
Congratulations to Will Power for taking the checkered flag at the INDYCAR Grand Prix!
