Indulge at Sila Rooftop Restaurant

By Rohit Dassani

The name ‘Sila’ comes from the teachings of Lord Buddha who inspire everyone to have a good conduct throughout our lives. Sila Rooftop Restaurant is based on these teachings, which is evident throughout this place. Located in the Electronic City – Phase 1 with close proximity to most of the IT firms. The place is located on the top floor of Astra Hotel. A Buddha statue welcomes everyone to the serene environment at Sila. The interiors is filled with little antiques and plants with a backdrop of the Electronic City. Being a terraced restaurant ‘Sila’ enjoys the cool breeze and cozy evenings of Bangalore.

We choose to sit at one of the corner tables which gave us a brilliant view. Sila takes the experience of a roof top restaurant to just another level and serves only North Indian cuisines. We ordered the fresh lime soda and Sila Special Veg Platter for appetizers.

Fresh Lime Soda – Simple fresh lime juice with soda. The amount of sweetness was perfect.

Sila Special Veg Platter – A combination of assorted tandoori appetizers. The Tandoori Mushrooms and Tandoori Gobi were simply fantastic. The Paneer Tikka and Paneer Hariyali Tikka were decent in taste. The Tandoori Sheekh Kebab was also great. Overall, a rare platter and a must try!

We then ordered our main course which comprised of Kaju Matter, Sila’s Speical Veg and Dal Tadka along with Indian breads.

Kaju Matter – Delicious creamy gravy of matter (peas) with deep fried Kaju.

Sila’s Special Veg – The Sila’s Special Veg really surprised me as it consisted of 3 different gravies. A green spinach based gravy, a white creamy gravy and a red tomato based paneer gravy. Amazing in taste and a complete value for money all the way.

Dal Tadka – This Dal Tadka reminded me of the simple dal at home, not overly spicy the taste was great.

Butter Tandoori Roti – Buttery and fluffy Tandoori roti with decent amount of butter on top.

Stuffed Kulcha – Stuffed with potato masala, the Kulcha was soft and went well with all the gravies.

Banana Split – How can a delicious meal at Sila end without a dessert. The Banana split was made from Chocolate and Butterscotch icecream.
