The Panadura High Court yesterday served indictments to the Convener of the National Movement for a Just Society Sri Jayewardhanapura University Senior Lecturer, Ven. Dhambara Amila Thera and another person on suspicion of defrauding people by sending them abroad.
Ven.Dhambara Amila Thera and Janith Vellala were indicted in four separate cases filed by the Attorney General and one case was filed against Dhambara Amila Thera.
The accused were charged under Section 403 of the Penal Code.
The four cases were taken up before Panadura High Court Judge Saman Kumara yesterday and the accused were ordered released on sureties of Rs.1 million.
Attorneys Ajith P.Perera and Roshan Dehiwala appeared for the accused and the preliminary hearing of the four cases was fixed for June 16 and July 26.
