The United States welcomed 661,500 new citizens on June 15 in the 2022 fiscal year, with India the second largest country birth for American citizens who were naturalized in the first quarter of Mexico.
“Throughout the history of our nation, the promise of life and freedom, and freedom to pursue happiness, is what has attracted millions of people from all over the world to refer to America as their home,” said Director of US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) M JADDOU Friday.
In the 2021 fiscal year, USCIS welcomed 855,000 new US citizens. In the 2022 fiscal year, the USCIS welcomed 661,500 new citizens on June 15 and made significant progress in reducing our naturalization queues, the agency said. Uscis said it would celebrate this year’s independence day by welcoming more than 6,600 new residents in more than 140 naturalized ceremonies between July 1 and July 8. The US celebrates its independence day on July 4.
According to the security of US homeland, 34 percent of naturalization in TA 2022 Q1 consists of people from the top five national countries: Mexico (24,508), India (12,928), the Philippines (11,316), Cuba (10,689), and The Philippines (11,316) , Cuba (10,689), and the Dominican Republic (7,046). During this period, the US welcomed 1,97,148 new citizens.
In the FY 2021 Q1, the top five national countries (Mexico, India, Cuba, the Philippines and China) contributed 35 percent of naturalization, he said.
The fiscal year of the US federal government took place from October 1 to September 30. “On the USCIS, our trust in American promises is updated every day when we work to welcome immigrants as fellow citizens of our country,” Jaddou said, adding “our country will be stronger and more diverse because of the choices they have made.”
Among the top birth countries for people who are naturalized in 2020, Mexico is a leading country (13 percent of the total), followed by India (7.7 percent), the Philippines (5.3 percent), Cuba (5.0 percent ), and China (4.2 percent).
