Mandarin, Morocco
Morocco, Africa
Opening: 2014
What to expect: Mandarin Oriental is giving it another shot in Marrakech, as their last failed project was taken over by Taj Hotels. I visited the Taj property this December and was hoping Mandarin would make another appearance.
The property will take up 20 hecatares in the Palmarie region and there will be 54 individual villas, or riads, each housed in 300 square metres of private walled gardens - featuring their own pools and hot tubs, open-air showers, extensive areas for sunbathing, and shaded alfresco dining.
Morroco was one of my favorite destinations, and although there is a plethora of amazing hotels, there still seems to be a huge amount of growth in the luxury sector.
