In Memoriam (not That One)

By Richardl @richardlittleda

A sad loss

The following was passed onto me many years ago by a man who had read it in his staff journal at the bank where he worked. Today, when mourning is on many minds for many reasons, I reproduce it here:

You will all be saddened to learn of the demise of our most valuable member of staff: Someone Else. His passing creates a vacancy that will be hard to fill. Someone Else had been with this branch for many years and did more than the normal person’s share of work. Whenever there was a job to do, a helping hand needed or just an ear required, these words were on everybody’s lips: ‘let Someone Else do it’. Whenever there was a need for volunteers, everyone just assumed Someone Else would volunteer.  Someone Else was a wonderful person, sometimes appearing superhuman, but a person can only do so much.  Were the truth known, everyone expected too much of Someone Else.  This does mean, of course, that we must all do that little bit extra – something we would normally have left for …Someone Else.

Does Someone Else work with you?
