The fashion world is a community full of surprises and... extremes.

Over the years, the Guinness World Records book has chronicled a large number of fashion and clothing-related records. Some of them are really strange and interesting, many involve gatherings of people dressed as something (Superman, Santa Claus, Saint Patrick, etc.) and some, even though they are not related directly through fashion, have a strong connection. For example, the tallest people recorded by the GWR are different because of their appearance, which is highly correlated to fashion.

We have put together a collection of interesting fashion, clothing, style and appearance-related records that go from downright bizarre to records that will make you say "wow".

The most people modeling on a runway was achieved on 24 November 2013 in Mexico City, Mexico by the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Moda. The 3 083 models were all trained how to professionally walk on a catwalk prior to the show. The presentation took 2 hours and 49 minutes to complete.

The largest fashion show audience

On 18 May 2000, the Victoria's Secret Fashion show, which was held in the city of held in Cannes, France, was watched by more than two million people from all over the world, who logged on the brand's website to see the collection. The show featured models such as Karen Mulder and Tyra Banks and had Elton John and Elizabeth Taylor as hosts. The show raised over $ 2 000 000 for the America Foundation for AIDS Research.

The oldest model

Model Daphne Selfe, who was born in the UK on 1 July 1928, was still working as a professional model on 22 April 2014, when she entered the GWR book. At 85, Selfe had a career that spans on over 60 years and includes appearances for brands such as Gap, Dolce and Gabbana, Nivea, Olay, Tata-Naka and others. She was feature in Marie Claire and Vogue and was photographed by famous photographers such as David Bailey and Mario Testino.

British model Kate Moss holds the record of most appearances on the cover the British Vogue magazine. Her first cover was released in March 1993 and, when the GWR validated her record in September 2010, she had appeared on the magazine a total of 30 times.

Longest legs

Svetlana Pankratova from Russia holds the record for the world's longest female legs. Her legs, measured in Spain in July 2003, verified as measuring 51.9 in / 1,32 m.

Best-selling men's suit retailer - current

The largest menswear retailer of suits in the world is the Aoyama Trading Company from Japan. Between January and December 2007, they sold a total of 2 725 359 men's suits.

The smallest tailored suit

The smallest tailored suit measures 7.76 in / 19,7 cm for the jacket and 13.98 in / 35,5 cm for the trousers. The men's suit was made in Japan by the Haruyama Trading Co., Ltd. company, in the city of Okayama. The suit was measured by the GWR on 1 December 2012.

Fastest time to tie a Windsor knot

The fastest person to professionally tie a Windsor know with a neck tie is Alastair Galpin from Auckland, New Zealand, who managed to tie such a knot in 12.91 seconds. He became a record-breaker on 27 August 2012.

Colin Jones from the United Kingdom achieved to enter the GWR book by wearing 260 ties at once on 26 September 2014 at St Andrew's School, Bedford.

Fastest time to dress a male mannequin

Sinem Yavuz from Turkey managed to dress a male mannequin in 56,57 seconds at the GWR Live! Roadshow at Forum Aydin, in Aydin, Turkey, on 9 May 2010. To obtain a record breaker title, he had to dress up the mannequin in under 1 minute.

Most people wearing sunglasses in the dark

The most people wearing sunglasses in the dark record was achieved in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, and took 1 675 people to achieve on 6 March 2014. Now that's what we call a fashion statement!

Fastest creation of a shoe collection

The fastest creation of a shoe collection took 9 hours 40 minutes and 32 seconds and was achieved by Alexander Moreno a.k.a. Alexs Men from Columbia. The record was set during the International Footwear and Leather show held in the Columbian capital, Bogota. The shoes, which were created on 6 August 2009 by one of the most acclaimed shoe designers in the South American country, were original; and the thematic, the colors, the complements as well as other elements were randomly chosen by the assisting public.

Highest hairstyle

The highest hairstyle measured 8.37 ft / 2,66 m and was achieved in Wels, Austria on 21 June 2009. The massive hairdo was made from both real and fake hair and involved several hairdressers in an event organized by KLIPP unser Frisör.

The most expensive dress sold at an auction

The ivory rayon-acetate dress worn by Marilyn Monroe in the 1855 movie "The Seven Year Itch" was sold for $ 4 600 000 at an auction held in Los Angeles California, USA, on 18 June 2011 at the Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles. This may not come as a surprise, as dresses worn by the famous actress had been sold for impressive sums in the past.

The largest gathering of people dressed in Tracht dress

On 4 October 2014, as part of the Oktoberfest celebration in Bad Schussenried, Germany, 2 865 people dressed in Tracht and entered the Guinness World Record hall of fame.

The matter of the fact is that records change constantly, but this doesn't mean it's not great to see what eccentric, interesting or involuntary achievements the (fashion) world has managed to create.
