Story: Immaculate starts when Cecilia (Sweeney) heads to Italy to complete her vows and become a nun. Father Tedeschi (Morte) welcomes her, and Cecilia gets to meet the other nuns from around the world. Even if her Italian isn’t great, the word of God has brought them together, giving her a chance to express those feelings.
However, Cecilia learns she is pregnant and can’t explain how she became pregnant. The church sees it as a miracle but is holding a much darker series of secrets, that put her life in danger.
Verdict on Immaculate
Immaculate is a horror thriller following a young woman who joins a convent to become a nun. However, once she joins, she learns of a much more sinister plan they have for her, and she must figure out how to escape.
This movie dives into religious horror and how not every group is as positive and friendly as they let on. It uses the cult mentality to create the horror, even if the main concept has been seen a lot. We get creepy sequences that take us through the experience Cecilia goes through. It is all about how the movie plans its ending, with the idea being the one that needs to stand out. This creates a surprising and haunting conclusion that you won’t see coming.
