This week we are in Tokyo staying on the 35th floor of the Shangri- La Hotel in Tokyo. The hotel is a couple of minutes walk from Tokyo mainline station.
1. Enjoy your welcome gifts of fruit, chocolates and delicate rice cakes all presented beautifully when you arrive in your room. The chocolates and other sweet treats are hidden in tiny drawers.
2.The first thing we noticed was the amazing view of the city out of the huge wide window. This is especially stunning at night when the millions of lights from the tall buildings dazzle. Look down to see bullet trains!
3. Once we settled we were greeted by a welcome arrival drink of green tea. This was served to us from a leather tea caddy served with care and attention.
4. You can’t help but play with the gadgets in room which would seem to be unique – certainly to us. Firstly a curtain that is electronically controlled and secondly a toilet which has more buttons than a television remote control. Everything from different washes to types of flush.
5. Order room service like no other. The Shangri-La in Tokyo offers an extensive room service menu, Once ordered by pressing a discreet button on the telephone your food will arrive in about thirty minute. We were impressed as an actual table arrived at the door – all set as if it was in a restaurant. The food was kept hot underneath in mini ovens. The attention to detail at the Shangri-La hotel simply shines through.
