IISc Bengaluru is the Top Indian Institute in QS World University Rankings

IISC, the other three among the Top-50 Research University in the World
Indian Science Institute of Bengaluru is a new national leader in the QS World University 2023 ranking released on Thursday which also shows that all Indian Technology Institutes (IIT) increase their position.

The latest edition of QS World University Rankings features 41 Indian universities, of which 12 improve their position, 12 remain stable, 10 decreased and seven are new entries.

IISC Bengaluru ranks 155th globally, and is a global leader in the indicator of quotation per faculty (CPF) used by QS to evaluate the impact of research produced by the university. This is also a South Asian University that rose the fastest among the top universities in the QS ranking after rising 31 places from year to year.

IIT Bombay, which is the leading Indian University in the QS World University ranking from the previous edition is the second best Indian institution this time and rose five global places to reach 172. The third best Indian University is the Delhi Indian Institute of Technology (IITD), followed by IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur.

O Jindal Global University is the top ranked private institution among Indian universities and rose from the band ranked 701-750 to the band 651-700, followed by the Manipal Academy of Higher Education and Amity University.

IISC Bengaluru is the world’s top research university, reaching a perfect score of 100/100 for CPF, IIT Guwahati, IIT Roorkee and the University of Madras are also the Top-50 Global Research Institute.

However, the University of India struggles with teaching capacity and internationalization. Thirty out of 41 Indian ranking universities have experienced a decrease in the Indicator of the QS Faculty/ Student Ratio with only four recording improvements.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is the best local performing institution for the proportion of the Ranking of the 411 International Faculty Globally and Amity University is a national leader for the proportion of international students, ranking 542 globally.
