When I realized I have not eaten pancakes in a long time, I started to crave its fluffy and golden warm goodness. I just need to have one! And where else could you possibly get the best pancakes? I have a couple of ideas but I chose to fulfill my cravings by vising the nearest International House of Pancakes (IHOP) branch.
The IHOP family restaurant chain has been serving their world famous pancakes and a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner items in the US since 1958. I'm glad they arrived in the Philippines. Since opening their first restaurant at Bonifacio Global City which is also the first IHOP in Asia, the restaurant has opened more branches in the country one of which is in U.P. Town Center.
Their branch here is located on the ground floor. It's not too big but has an ample space that's clean and well-ventilated. The waiting staff were courteous and always gave a smile reflecting the restaurant chain's philosophy. The only problem we encountered during our visit was the serving time. Despite that, we can see that the two present servers were doing their best.
Now onto the food!
New York Cheesecake Pancake
I must say their New York Cheesecake Pancake will put a smile on your face. Every bite of this cheesecake pancake is heaven. Besides the pancake that I so crave, we also tried some of their breakfast and salad choices.
Old Fashioned Potato Salad
There's another restaurant that serve this type. I can honestly say that both are delicious but IHOP's version is better. It wasn't pretentious - just filled with old fashioned goodness.
Chicken and Cheese Quesadilla
What I love about this simple dish is the serving size and there was no shortage of chicken and cheese filling.
Savory Pork Longganisa
Though delicious and juicy, it was too oily.*
Garlic Cream Cobb Salad
This is definitely my new fave salad. The fresh Romaine lettuce and other greens plus eggs, bacon bits, tomatoes and the now famous avocadoes worked well with IHOPS creamy garlic ranch dressing.
