Inspector General C. D. Wickramaratne yesterday arrived at the Homicide and Organized Crime Investigation Division to inquire into the progress of the investigation regarding the murder of Janashakthi Group Director Dinesh Schaffter. The IGP has inquired from the senior officers about the progress of the investigation.The IGP has also given instructions to the heads of the investigation to take care not to make wrong assumptions about the murder investigation, as society is paying a lot of attention to it.
The IGP had given instructions to the investigators about the areas that need to be further investigated. Accordingly, the Division has focused on continuing the investigation regarding this murder by following instructions given by the Attorney General.The investigators revealed that further investigations are being conducted with special attention to every person who has been under suspicion so far.
The Police Media division issuing a release yesterday night said the dissemination of information over the murder from unconfirmed sources may hinder the investigations and the administration of justice. Also, it was stated that it could be an advantage for the suspects and thereby prejudice the victim.
