Our Tuesday
slot in which we point you in the direction of other great happenings and
events in our great city. A new exhibition, a gig, a museum, a pop-up-shop –
the best of London within a few minutes of a London Walks walking
tour.
Hire a bike from London Recumbents
in Dulwich Park or Battersea Park. Lie back and enjoy the view on a recumbent
bike or trike – a contraption in which the rider sits in a laid-back position
rather than the traditional upright fashion. The view isn't too shabby either,
riding around the designated cycle paths in two of London's loveliest parks. They do traditional machines, too.
Here's what London Recumbents have
to say for themselves:
When London Recumbents started back
in 1993 the Mountain Bike boom was still in full swing, the term 'fixie' hadnt
been invented, and bikes for the disabled generally meant a heavy unstable
upright trike.
We wanted to do things differently -
to offer bikes you wouldn't see in the local bike shops and to give an
experience above and beyond the confines of the high street. Within four years
we were based in parkland, offering green spaced traffic-calmed test-rides and
bike hires to all. A truly inclusive service for anyone young and old, the
physically and mentally fit and for those with greater challenges.
