If You Do One Other Thing in London This Week…Our Tuesday slot in which we point you in the direction of other great happenings and events in our great city. A new exhibition, a gig, a museum, a pop-up-shop – the best of London within a few minutes of a London Walks walking tour.
With our Political London theme in mind, visit the Cartoon Museum for the Spitting Image exhibition.
If You Do One Other Thing in London This Week…
In its 80s heyday, Spitting Image was powerfully satirical TV. Puppets and voice actors portrayed the political figures of the day with an absence of mercy that made most of us proud to live in a free country. Thatcher was depicted in the gents loo, urinating while standing up; Liberal leader David Steel was a terminal bed wetter; Labour leader Neil Kinnock an impossibly verbose loser. Cruel, sometimes off color and missed by everyone who loves satire. Where is the Spitting Image of today?
Relive the glory days at the Cartoon Museum’s celebration of the programme's 30th Anniversary.
